How these calculators work

Each calculator starts in US units (feet, inches, cubic yards, pounds and US tons) and switches to metric with one click, converting what you have already typed. Bag counts, blocks, boards and pickets are always rounded up, because you can't buy part of a bag.

Product figures such as bag yields, material weights and code limits come from manufacturer data sheets, industry guides (NCMA, ICPI, American Wood Council), the International Residential Code and university extension services. They are listed at the bottom of every page with the date they were last checked. Found a mistake? Tell us and we'll correct it. Prices are never pre-filled: enter what your local supplier charges.

Results are estimates for planning. Check your measurements, your supplier's product data and your local building code before you buy or build.
